Service

Looking for the Orphan Block Challenge? Click here!

Members of the AMQG can choose to be part of the service committee which is geared toward sharing our modern quilting talents and skills with the greater-Austin community through charity projects.

The service committee is organizing several designated sew-ins where guild members can help piece blocks, as well as volunteer to piece tops, quilt and bind. This year’s selected charitable organizations are Settlement Home for Children & St. Louise House and we plan to meet or exceed our quilt donations for 2016, which was 100 quilts.

Even if you’re not a part of the committee, you can help tremendously by contributing:
-completed quilts
-quilt tops
-individual blocks
-lend your time in piecing, quilting or binding

This is a fun and purposeful way to try something new and learn some skills. Sew up quilts or blocks between meetings, and turn them in at the next meeting. It’s as simple as that! Any blocks received will be used to make our donated quilts, helping us reach our goal even faster.

Current Quilt Challenge:

We’re sewing up a quick fat quarter bundle to make an easy lap-sized quilt.

This is an awesome way to use up fat quarters that have been sitting in your stash a while.
